Elephants are very common in northern Thailand and have been with Thailand for a long time. They are very useful animals in the forestry and tourism industry. Elephants are undeniably grateful to mankind. Dr. Kobchai Jitsakula, President of the Française-Thai Association, Chiang Rai, and Chairman of the Greenwing Co., Ltd. was inspired to organize “Les Petits Eléphants de Chiang Rai” to convey the beauty of the art from these Chiang Rai artists, there are many according to the imagination of each artist and the technique that they are good at. It is to give tourists the opportunity to admire the beauty of the artist's hand-painted on 60 fiberglass elephants.

H.E. Mr. Thierry Viteau, French Ambassador to Thailand said that we are aware of the decline in elephant populations in Thailand. We hope that elephants will not disappear from the Thailand. Elephants are animals that are in the symbol of Chiang Rai Province. The Association has always cooperated in stopping the extinction of elephants through various activities. On this occasion, we have cooperated with Greenwing in organizing this project. We invite artists in Chiang Rai with their own uniqueness to design and paint on 60 1-meter-tall fiberglass elephants. We will encourage these elephants to be exhibited to promote “Elephant Art on the Land of Chiang Rai”.

Chalermchai Kositpipat said that this exhibition It was the skill of 90 artists in Chiang Rai to paint art on the elephant. It is to disseminate the beauty of the artist's craftsmanship to the public, both Thai and foreign tourists to appreciate the merit of the elephant, which is the national animal of Thailand. We want everyone to be delighted with the impressive art on elephants in order to attract tourists to visit and photograph these 90 elephants as a memento. In addition, “Les Petits Eléphants de Chiang Rai” is also a symbol and a reminder to young people that this Lanna land was once rich in elephants.
